The City of Alma Common Council on April 17 discussed potential changes at Alma Memorial Cemetery including opening upper lots and purchasing a columbarium for cremation interments.
Services Committee Chair Loren Mueller told the Council the committee examined the practical challenges of opening the upper lots, noting that an access road may need to be constructed because of steep terrain so vault companies can access burial sites. The committee also considered buying a columbarium to provide in-ground alternatives for cremations.
No formal action to authorize road construction, lot sales or columbarium purchase was recorded; the matter was reported as under committee consideration.
