The Alma Common Council unanimously adopted Ordinance #24-07, an amendment to the city’s room tax, at its Dec. 12 meeting after holding a public hearing that produced no testimony, Mayor Richard Champeny said.
The public hearing opened and closed with no speakers, and the council later voted to adopt the ordinance by roll call. Finance Committee Chair Gary Jepsen presented the proposed amendment and recommended adoption; the motion to adopt carried with all members voting yes by roll call.
Jepsen also updated the council on related economic-development matters, including a brief broadband discussion for the industrial lots and the Library Building Committee’s recent approval for the mayor to sign a contract with FEH Architects on the proposed library project.
The ordinance amendment was enacted at the meeting; council members did not record any public opposition during the hearing. The council adjourned after completing committee reports and other business.
