The July 7 Cobb County Planning Commission handled multiple remaining consent and temporary‑use items and took procedural action on several rezoning cases.
Consent and short items: The commission approved a revised consent agenda that included LDP 13 (Rebecca Gann — temporary land use permit for selling cut flowers) after staff reported the applicant had resolved earlier opposition. The panel recommended approval of LUP 12 (Juan R. Velasquez) to allow additional vehicles outside for a limited period, granting an 18‑month temporary permit to allow the applicant time to construct a garage and come into code compliance.
Holds and follow‑up: Commissioners held Z17 (Haro Murillo residential subdivision) to the August hearing to allow staff review of a newly submitted site plan, stormwater and DOT comments and further neighborhood coordination. Rezoning Z25 (fuel/convenience store on Dew West Road) was also held for additional stormwater and landscaping review after neighbors raised concerns about heavy traffic on that corridor.
Group home and RV requests: The commission held LUP 14 (increase the capacity of a group home from 4 to 7 residents) for 60 days and directed the applicant to provide a detailed program plan, floor and site drawings, staffing and supervision information, business licensing and Fire/inspection review; staff also advised the applicant to coordinate with the fire marshal because sprinklers and other safety upgrades may be required. LUP 15 (request to use a 5th‑wheel RV as a temporary residence) was recommended for denial without prejudice after the applicant did not appear and a nearby neighbor objected, citing fire‑hazard and encroachment concerns.
Minutes and adjournment: The commission approved minutes from the previous hearing and work session and adjourned the July 7 meeting.
