Easton revives Affordable Housing Committee; identifies 137 potential ADUs for credit

The Easton Affordable Housing Committee held its first meeting after reformation, First Selectman Dan Lent reported on March 19. MetroCOG planner Matt Fulda presented on watershed obligations and how towns can seek credit toward state requirements under HB 8002.
Lent said the committee identified 137 potential garage apartments and accessory dwelling units (ADUs) that may be eligible for credit. He framed the finding as an early inventory that will support planning and compliance with state watershed obligations tied to housing policy.
Selectman Nick D'Addario told the board that the new committee members are cooperating well and that recent state legislation makes the committee's work timely. The board encouraged public awareness as the committee continues its inventory and considers whether properties meet technical and regulatory thresholds for credit.
Further technical analysis will be required to confirm eligibility of identified units and to translate the inventory into adoptable zoning or incentive programs.
