Resident asks for restored public budget review as board approves routine motions and moves to executive session

During the public-comment period, a resident asked the board to return to earlier practices that allowed more in-person back-and-forth on budget matters.

Jean Stowell, who identified herself and gave her address, said she had been a regular attendee in the past and asked whether the board plans to review the budget in a public meeting that would allow questions and answers. The resident said she preferred a public exchange rather than email and asked whether the board planned to restore that format; the clerk and other members said the board would answer budget questions at the next board meeting but that the public-comment portion of the current session was not an opportunity for back-and-forth dialogue.

Following public comment the board took several procedural motions. The clerk called for a motion on agenda item M; the motion was moved and seconded and carried on roll call. The board then moved items N through T (inclusive) and a miscellaneous motion; each motion was seconded and carried with affirmative roll-call responses recorded. Finally, members moved to adjourn public session and enter executive session; the clerk called the roll, the motion carried, and the meeting adjourned for executive session with no public decisions taken at that time.
