Buildings and grounds: JVAC bubble nearing completion; maintenance workload high and power activations delayed

The district's buildings-and-grounds team updated the board Oct. 31 on facilities work, a student activity bubble and day-to-day maintenance workload.
"The inside is almost complete, and we are on target for our December 1 starting of the season," Sitta said of the JVAC (bubble) and associated facility work. Facilities staff added that power to Intermediate East on Hooper Avenue has been restored.
Facilities reported a large volume of orders: "This past month in October, we roughly had about 785 incoming work orders throughout the district," said a facilities representative, adding that the team completed 986 work orders across September and October and averages roughly 42 completed work orders per day.
Staff also described an outstanding utility activation with JCP&L. The district said a DCOMU number was submitted and that the district had previously secured help from Assemblyman McGuckin's office to fast-track a power connection. Staff expected further assistance and hoped the remaining activations would be resolved within 24–48 hours.
Board members asked for additional monthly detail and the possibility of publishing breakdowns by trade or major-ticket items so the public can see what is scheduled versus completed. The committee moved to public comment after the updates; no formal capital vote was taken at the meeting.
