The Poestenkill Town Board opened its meeting with a series of recognitions for local youth achievements.
Supervisor Michelle Garfola read a proclamation honoring Merrick Gropsey Jr. for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, citing years of leadership and a completed Eagle project that replaced a storage shed for the Sullivan Jones VFW Post. Garfola also read a proclamation recognizing high-school student Shay Eller for repainting and refinishing town signage to improve the town's public spaces.
The board further read resolutions congratulating April Park High School's softball and baseball teams on Class A state championships, reciting season records, regional and state results and naming coaches and roster members. Members and attendees offered congratulations and took a photograph with honorees.
What happens next: The proclamations were adopted as read and will be entered into the town's records; no policy or budgetary action was associated with the recognitions.
