Lynn Township EAC plans spring recycling and roadside cleanups, seeks BOS support

The Lynn Township Environmental Advisory Council on Jan. 23 agreed to coordinate a spring recycling and roadside cleanup with the Rural Renewal Association and to plan a second, fall event.
Rob Sayre presented pricing and a flyer from Responsible Recycling Services and proposed that Lynn Township piggyback its cleanup on the Rural Renewal Association event scheduled for April 26, 2025 at the Lynnport Fire Company. The council also tentatively scheduled a second recycling/roadside cleanup for Oct. 18, 2025 at Ontelaunee Park and discussed recruiting a food truck for that date.
"Welcome new member! BOS approved him, he’s updated on the Township website," Sayre said as the meeting opened, noting that the Board of Supervisors had approved the new EAC appointment.
Council members assigned follow-up tasks to implement the cleanup plan. Kathryn Townsend will reach out to the Board of Supervisors about joining the Bird Town program and set up social media accounts (Nextdoor, Facebook) for outreach; Tricia Ferraro will contact PennDOT to request roadside cleanup materials; a road master will be asked to transport collected trash; and the group will research additional recycling-company pricing for the Oct. 18 drive. The council also plans to request funds from the BOS to cover trash disposal costs.
The council recorded a series of administrative next steps related to broader planning and regulation: members will redline sample bylaws for review; the group will seek a copy of the township's Multi-Municipality Plan and the latest CAFO (concentrated animal feeding operation) plan; and Annie Hungaski was asked to request minutes from the Planning Commission meeting of Aug. 20, 2024.
The meeting opened at 6:43 p.m., approved the Dec. 19, 2024 minutes (moved by Kathryn Townsend, seconded by Rob Sayre) and adjourned at 7:52 p.m. after a motion by Townsend and second by Tricia Ferraro.
