Lynn Township board approves salt purchase, splits fire relief funds and buys park mower

The Lynn Township Board of Supervisors on Oct. 10 approved a series of routine fiscal and operational measures including a joint winter salt purchase, an equal split of Fireman's Relief funds, a park equipment purchase and a resolution authorizing transfers of unencombered township funds.
The board voted unanimously to accept the township's 225-ton portion of a joint sodium chloride deicing rock salt bid from Eastern Salt Company, Inc. The award covers Lynn's 225-ton allocation under the joint bid process led by North Whitehall Township. Frederick Najarian moved the salt bid acceptance; Ronald Jerdon seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
In other motions, the board voted unanimously to split Fireman's Relief money equally between North Whitehall Fire Company (NTFC) and Lynn's fire company (LPFC). The motion was made by Frederick Najarian and seconded by Ronald Jerdon.
Park funds were used to buy a new zero-turn Cub Cadet mower from Eckroth Equipment for $14,389 after the board reviewed three quotes. Ronald Jerdon moved to approve the purchase; Najarian seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board also adopted Resolution 2024-21, described by Solicitor Marc Fisher as authorizing the transfer of unencombered moneys from one township account to another; the resolution was linked in the minutes to closing the Nancy Smith subdivision account. Frederick Najarian moved adoption and Ronald Jerdon seconded; the measure passed unanimously.
On personnel classification, the board confirmed that Ryan Wessner, appointed Building Code Official at the Sept. 12 meeting, serves as an independent contractor rather than a township employee. Najarian moved the clarification and Jerdon seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting record shows the motions passed unanimously; individual roll-call tallies were not recorded in the minutes. The meeting opened at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
The board's consent items included acceptance of prior meeting minutes and direction to the treasurer to pay bills as they come due. The minutes also record department updates and a full treasurer's report filed with the minutes.
