Lynn Township joins Bird Town PA; chairman votes against membership

The Lynn Township Board of Supervisors voted on Aug. 8 to join Bird Town PA, a voluntary program promoted to town environmental advisory committees, after a presentation by Environmental Advisory Committee representative Heidi Shiver.
Heidi Shiver told the board Bird Town provides recommendations and does not bind the township to any actions. Vice Chairman Frederick Najarian moved to join at an annual cost of $100; Member Ronald Jerdon seconded the motion. Chairman Brian C. Dietrich said he was not in favor of membership based on some of Bird Town’s recommendations, but the motion carried with Dietrich voting no and the other two members in favor.
The board also approved a motion directing the township EAC and Bird Town PA to work together with the Blue Mountain District; that motion likewise carried with the chairman opposed. No ordinance or binding policy change was recorded; minutes show the membership is a voluntary participation at the stated annual fee.
