Lynn Township approves $23,262 truck repair and multiple maintenance-garage upgrades using COVID funds

The Lynn Township Board of Supervisors on Aug. 8 approved a series of road-department repairs and facility upgrades, including a $23,262.10 engine repair for a 2004 Blue Mack truck and several maintenance-garage improvements funded from township COVID-19 relief monies.
Roadmaster Matt Henderson reported July repairs and outlined August work priorities, including pipe replacements, shoulder mowing, stone for dirt roads and tree trimming. The board accepted S&D Towing & Repair’s quote of $23,262.10 for the Mack truck engine repair, including a one-year/30,000-mile warranty; the motion was made by Ronald Jerdon and seconded by Frederick Najarian and carried unanimously.
The board also approved a plumbing upgrade for the road crew maintenance garage by Broc Mechanical for $2,515 and authorized the purchase of two commercial garage door openers from Palmerton Garage Door II totaling $5,072 — both motions passed unanimously. The township accepted an MBI HVAC proposal for $5,985 with the modification to include transfer fans; that vote was unanimous as well. Meeting minutes state the three facility projects will be paid from COVID-19 relief funds.
The board’s actions followed a presentation of recent road work and a discussion of ongoing equipment maintenance needs. No members raised objections to using the COVID fund balance for these items during the motions that passed.
