Two residents spoke during the public-comment period at the Nov. 10 Grain Valley Board meeting, raising personnel and signage concerns.
Randy Price, a retired police captain from 1601 NW Pond Ave., urged the board during FOP-related discussions to avoid grouping all city employees and officers together for pay decisions. He said retraining and experience should be considered when setting wages rather than applying a single raise structure to varied jobs.
Jan Brill of 1035 Ephraim asked the board to revisit political signage rules and enforcement. She said the current 10-day window to correct sign violations is unfair because a sign that goes up early has already gained undue exposure. Mayor Mike Todd responded that state law and First Amendment considerations limit the city's ability to distinguish "political signs" from other signs and cautioned about drawing lines that could raise constitutional issues.
Both items were recorded as public comment; no formal board action was taken at the Nov. 10 meeting on either request.
