Regionalization advisory group outlines data timeline and community engagement plan

Board liaison Anne (reported during liaison updates) summarized recent work on the Watchung Hills shared-services and regionalization advisory committee and the Rowan School Regionalization Institute (RSRI) study team. The advisory group is collecting state and local data and expects data acquisition to be complete by early November.
The committee discussed culture and climate surveys (Rutgers’ New Jersey School Climate Improvement Survey is being considered), outreach to PTOs and an editorial meeting with local editors. The engagement timeline calls for PTO roundtables in October, newsletter articles in November after the election, stakeholder meetings in December and an in-person town hall in January to present study progress and solicit community input.
Demographic analyses and priority areas for the study were also reported: special education, transportation and curriculum alignment have been identified as priority topics. The RSRI team will investigate models including a shared curriculum center approach used by other regional districts.
A tentative goal for completion of a thorough report was set for May–June 2025, but the advisory group cautioned that the deadline may shift to ensure a high-quality product.
The liaison asked the community to submit questions by email and noted the next advisory meetings as the RSRI team compiles additional information.
