The Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County on Sept. 3 approved the appointment of Rob Marion to represent the county on the River Valley Regional Commission (RVRC). The appointment replaces Dr. Edward Lee; Marion’s term is listed in the resolution as Sept. 3, 2024 through Sept. 3, 2025. Commissioner Jason Frost moved the appointment; Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded; the vote was unanimous among commissioners present.
At the same meeting the Commission voted to allow businesses to establish accounts at the county recycling center, a measure intended to permit commercial users to access recycling services subject to the center’s account rules. A separate proposal to install a cardboard compactor at the recycling site was discussed but tabled to the next work session pending additional information or agreement.
Other, brief actions during the agenda handled by unanimous votes included approval of a VA tax refund request for Anthony Leach and several routine minute approvals. Several items were placed on the Oct. 1 agenda for further action, including Board of Education use of Old City Hall (tabled until agreement), and the Board of Elections policy first reading.
The appointment and the recycling policy vote were recorded as motions on the Sept. 3 agenda and carried by roll call of the commissioners present.
