Hackberry board approves sweeping personnel and governance policy changes, tables religion-policy for second reading

The Hackberry Elementary School District #3 governing board on June 22 approved a broad package of deletions, revisions and new policy advisories affecting personnel, ethics, hiring and staff conduct.
The board moved the changes in grouped batches and recorded unanimous 4-0 votes on multiple motions. Pam Adams, a governing board member, moved to approve one early block of changes (Policy Advisories No. 961–986); Valerie Grimes seconded and the motion passed 4-0. Subsequent grouped motions for additional advisories (including Nos. 987–992; 1003–1007; 1008–1019; and 1032–1044) were also approved in block votes, each recorded as passing 4-0. Several motions were recorded to preserve existing policy in grouped cases (for example, the board voted 4-0 to keep existing policies for Advisory Nos. 993–1002).
