Oneka (Onika) Driscoll told the council on June 15 that the community’s July 4 fireworks effort remains about $14,200 short after a recent $5,000 commitment and asked whether the city could help with funding.
Driscoll said she has solicited businesses and described outstanding prospects but that timing made it difficult to place the request on the current agenda. City staff explained that using transient room tax funds requires proper agenda notice and suggested either placing the request on the next regular meeting agenda or scheduling a properly noticed special meeting. The council agreed to hold a special meeting next Monday at 5:30 p.m. to consider the request.
No appropriation was made at the June 15 meeting; the special meeting will be formally noticed so council can take action then.
