Senate opens with invocation by Dr. Gabriel Fluor; members introduce guests and adjourn to Wednesday 8:30 a.m.

The Senate convened with an invocation led by the minister of the day, Dr. Gabriel Fluor, who prayed for wisdom for lawmakers and for the proceedings to be blessed.
"Almighty and everlasting God, you who sit entroned above the circle of the earth... Help us all, Lord, to number our days and so learn wisdom," Dr. Fluor said in the invocation.
Members recognized a number of guests in the gallery, including family members and visitors from universities and civic organizations. Speakers asked the body to welcome Jeff Peterson and his son Austin; Speaker Hale introduced his granddaughter Catherine Chandler; Chairman Watson introduced Brooke Shealy from Hamilton County; and a guest from Vanderbilt University, Rayanna Morales, was introduced and welcomed.
Leader Akberry also introduced visitors from the National Black Caucus of State Legislators: CEO Kimba Desatier and CFO Nancy Beams, who were visiting from Washington, D.C., and Alabama.
The presiding officer adjourned the Senate until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
