District outlines back-to-school plans, confirms no modular classrooms during building addition

Administrators for the Long Beach Island Consolidated School District told the board the district has updated its website and Genesis parent portal and will send letters to families with login instructions and homeroom assignments ahead of the start of school.
The administrator said the PTA will hold a mini-golf fundraiser next Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. ($5 per person) and that the first PTA meeting will be Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. at the LBI grade school. Orientations and back-to-school nights were announced, with one orientation at LBI grade school at 9 a.m. and another for Mr. Murray scheduled the following afternoon.
The board discussed transition planning for staff during construction of an addition to the EHA school. Administrator [Administrator] said the preliminary shared plan, developed with staff and reviewed by the buildings & grounds committee, would keep all students at the building while work proceeds and would not rely on temporary modular classrooms or trailers. "This plan ... would have all the students here. No modulars. No trailers," the administrator said when asked by a parent whether students would need to be relocated.
District officials said the transition plan will be updated as enrollment and schedules are finalized and that staff will meet with stakeholders next week to refine the shared plan. The board requested that school staff bring recommended focus points at the next meeting to narrow district priorities.
The board also reminded parents and the public that materials and updated schedules are posted on the district website and invited questions during public comment. The board set its next meeting for Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.
