Supervisors set $12,000 for fire recruitment and confirm county burn ban, order signs

The Lynn Township Board of Supervisors on Nov. 14 set $12,000 in township funds for the Fire Company Recruitment and Retention Program and directed that the exact distribution be decided at the Dec. 12 meeting.
The action followed reports from Lehigh Township Fire Company (LPFC) President Heather Utt and New Tripoli Fire Company (NTFC) Fire Chief Gary Kuntz, who described heavy recent call volumes, dry conditions and several large brush fires. Chief Kuntz said the countywide burn ban remains in effect through Dec. 15, 2024, and that the departments have posted signage at the township building and the fire station.
The supervisors also agreed to pay an invoice submitted by Gary Kuntz for two burn-ban signs and directed Road Master Matt Henderson to order 12 additional burn-ban signs from Miller Municipal Supply.
The allocation of the $12,000 recruitment funds was approved by motion of Ronald Jerdon and seconded by Frederick Najarian, and the motion carried unanimously. The board scheduled a Dec. 12 meeting to decide final distribution to the participating fire companies.
Chief Kuntz also noted NTFCs ongoing involvement with regional mutual-aid activities and a planned Santa run on Dec. 21. LPFC President Heather Utt highlighted upcoming fundraisers and community events that support department operations.
