The Lopatcong Township Board of Education on Sept. 18 approved several personnel and program measures including resignations, new hires, professional development and contracts.
Resignations and retirements: the board approved R-042-26 accepting the retirement of Margaret Fehnel, special education teacher, effective Sept. 1, 2025, and accepted the voluntary resignation of Claire Greig, ES administrative assistant, effective Oct. 3, 2025.
New hiring and position control: trustees approved a Personnel Control Roster update to create a new ten-month part-time custodian position (PCR #156) at $17.67 per hour with annual compensation not to exceed $18,377; the position is eligible for overtime as needed. The board also approved new hires including Steven Henrick as a substitute teacher/para at $135 per day (start 9/10/25) pending required paperwork for other pending hires.
Consultant and program approvals: under R-045-26 the board approved an agreement with AB Educational Consultant, LLC (Ann Ball) for math and science coaching services not to exceed $18,000, to be paid from ESEA funding. The board also approved the 'We’re Not Buying It 2.0' curriculum for Grades 6 and 8 (no cost; provided by Community Prevention Resources of Warren County) and authorized temporary hygiene pay for paraprofessionals effective Aug. 27, 2025, to end with assignment change or the end of the 2025–26 school year.
Professional development and stipends: multiple professional development requests were approved with listed registration fees and mileage where applicable. The board also approved stipend positions for the 2025–26 school year, including a Newscast Club stipend for Gabriel Omilian (1.5 stipend, $1,174.50/year).
Salary correction: the board approved R-038-26 correcting the salary for Alexandria Pierson, MD, to $63,576.00, effective Aug. 25, 2025; payroll has been adjusted to reflect the change.
Votes: these personnel and program items were moved in one or grouped roll-call votes and carried. Motions were made by Ernest Gallant and seconded at various points by Breanne Sweeney or Julia Jones-Jasper as recorded in the minutes.
Next steps: the business office and human resources will complete required paperwork for new hires and finalize the consultant contract details and funding source documentation.
