The Wyoming City Council on July 7 voted to call a public hearing on Aug. 5 for a Minnesota Investment Fund (MIF) application to support a proposed Rosenbauer expansion in Wyoming.
Staff said Rosenbauer plans a 45,000-to-50,000-square-foot building expansion representing about $20 million in private capital investment and estimated the project would create roughly 57 new full-time jobs at the company's Wyoming facility. The city would serve as the sponsoring municipality for a $200,000 MIF request administered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED); staff clarified that the city itself would not provide the grant funds.
"The expansion represents one of the largest private investments in Wyoming in recent years," said Mister Linwood (staff member), noting the company would not be seeking other city assistance beyond utilizing DEED tools and that any award would be contingent on Rosenbauer meeting capital investment and job-creation commitments required by DEED.
Councilmembers expressed general support for the prospect of new jobs and for keeping Rosenbauer in town; no council member asked to delay calling the public hearing. The council voted to call the public hearing on Aug. 5, 2026.
What happens next: DEED requires a public hearing prior to submitting a MIF application; the hearing will provide an opportunity for public comment and additional project detail, and any state award would be contingent on Rosenbauer meeting specified investment and job-creation benchmarks.
