Resident urges council to lift moratorium on new marijuana retail licenses, appeal set for July 20

City staff and the mayor told the council that Mr. Collier (the applicant identified in council remarks) has filed a timely appeal of the moratorium. The city explained that, under the applicable appeal rules, the council must hold a public hearing without creating biases and that a hearing on the appeal is scheduled for July 20; at that hearing the applicant and members of the public will have an opportunity to offer testimony.
What happens next: The council will hear the appeal and public testimony on July 20 and then will make a decision according to the required procedures for ordinance appeals.
