Leadership on the Tennessee House floor used standard procedural motions to adjust the chamber's business calendar and manage pending measures.
Leader Lambert moved to suspend the rules to allow the administration until the close of business on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, to file the governor's appropriations bill, bond bill, index bill and other administration bills that make up the budget package; the motion carried without objection. "We suspend the rules in order to allow the administration until the close of business on Monday, 02/09/2026 to timely file the appropriations bill, bond bill, index bill, and other administration bills that make up the governor's budget proposal," the floor leader stated.
Leadership also moved to hold SJR 553 and SJR 547 on the clerk's desk. The motions to hold those measures passed without objection.
During the session the House recorded multiple withdrawals of bills from committee and from the floor (for example, motions to withdraw HB 1651 and HB 1728 were made and ordered). Members also moved to refer HR 143 to the criminal justice subcommittee, and the Clerk reported the question was decided in favor of referral with a recorded count in the transcript: "I 73, 23 nays. Motion passes."
The clerk and the Speaker reiterated that changes to schedules and filing deadlines would be communicated to members by multiple channels. The House then stood in recess under the concurred Senate joint resolution while leadership and staff monitor weather and finalize scheduling.
