Fenton committee approves Saint Paul tournament reduced rate, authorizes special events and grants logo use for Greenway open house

Ryan Glasscock, one of the organizers, said the tournament expects roughly 125 teams and up to 10,000 entries over the week; the committee approved a reduced bulk rate of $2,500 for the event.
A separate special event—a 100‑inning memorial softball fundraiser proposed by Greg Burton—was conditionally approved. Staff and the city risk representative reviewed insurance expectations and advised organizers to obtain appropriate coverage; the committee approved the event provided organizers secure required insurance or seek a later waiver if they cannot meet sovereign coverage amounts.
The board also granted Great Rivers Greenway one‑time permission to use the city logo on promotional materials for an open house about the Merrimack Bridge connection, limited strictly to promotion that the event is being hosted at City Hall and not to imply city funding or partnership.
Finally, parks staff received authorization to solicit bids for a Can‑Am side‑by‑side UTV for work in preserves and park trails; members agreed the vehicle should be clearly marked as a city vehicle, used by authorized staff, and housed in city storage. The committee discussed manufacturer choices, warranties and restrictive driver policies before approving bid solicitation.
What’s next: Organizers will finalize insurance and dates with staff, Greenway will proceed with promotional materials limited to the open house, and the parks department will solicit UTV bids.
