At its Jan. 6 meeting the Washington Park Board of Commissioners approved a budget amendment that increased advertising by $200, contract services by $3,900 (to fund Mid East Commission assistance), the clerk—s salary by $510 (an additional 1% cost-of-living adjustment) and the clerk bond by $30. Commissioner Lee Bowen moved to approve the amendment; Mayor pro tem Jeff Peacock seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
During the clerk—s report, staff noted December deposits totaling $45,818.97 across several revenue categories (Ad Valorem/NCVTS $20,691.86; local-option sales tax $12,478.03; quarterly utilities tax $3,548.39; Powell Bill deposit $9,100.69). The board approved a motion by Commissioner Wade Dale, seconded by Commissioner Bowen, to obtain a town credit card after Office Depot announced termination of its credit-card service effective Jan. 31. The clerk also recommended holding remaining ARPA funds to meet a possible BRIC local-match requirement if the town proceeds with that application.
No budget rescissions or large re-allocations were made at the meeting; the amendment covered modest operational increases and contract assistance.
