Community Corrections staff (Dennis Holmes and Carly Anderson) told the Board on March 2 that significant state funding reductions will require changes to staffing levels and housing capacity. Staff said JRI and deflection grant projections remain uncertain, and the department will need to coordinate closely with jail leadership and Finance to adjust budgets and service delivery.
The presentation noted immediate fiscal pressure and the need to prioritize remaining funds; commissioners asked for follow-up information but did not take any formal votes on programmatic changes at the workshop.
Staff characterized the cuts as significant to operations and said planning will continue to identify options for maintaining services within the county’s funding constraints.
