The Town of Washington Park Board on March 3 tabled proposed amendments to §93.027 (Noxious Growth) after members said too many questions remain about wetlands boundaries and downstream impacts.
Commissioner Lee Bowen presented a U.S. Fish and Wildlife map that he said shows wetlands near 320 River Road extending roughly 50 feet behind the residence; the Board discussed how a delineation could affect neighboring properties. Commissioner Vail Rumley said he would contact David Lekson, a retired chief from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Washington field office, to see if Lekson can assist with an on-site wetlands delineation.
Mayor pro tem Jeff Peacock moved to table the ordinance amendment pending further information; Commissioner Rumley seconded the motion and the Board approved the tabling unanimously. Clerk April S. Alligood said the Waiver of Conflict Statement for Attorney Sasnett remained listed to continue and that further attorney guidance is awaited on several property matters, including next steps for 602 Small Street.
The Board did not adopt ordinance language at the meeting; discussion and possible amendment drafting will continue after expert consultation and attorney recommendations.
