Premier Lakes reports algae and sound reduction at Masters Lake; Edgewater plantings delayed pending association agreement

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the Board that the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in good condition overall but that algae growth was noted given the time of year. He said a palm tree on the shoreline of Lake E7A was removed per a prior action item and that plantings are scheduled in the near future.

Kurth said a cabinet was installed around a compressor at Masters Lake and that measured sound levels dropped from 64 decibels to 52 decibels between the compressor and the screen line; in his opinion the reduction is acceptable. Operations Manager Shane Willis said the concern is not only decibel level but the tone of the aerator, and staff discussed moving the compressor and easement constraints. Mr. Willis said he will coordinate with Bill and Alex Kurth on whether relocating the compressor is feasible and report findings at the next meeting.

Mr. Schultz summarized issues in the Edgewater area, including flooding and proposed littoral plantings and rip-rap. The Board reached consensus that Canna lilies should not be planted; Mr. Kurth said installing plants in Lake E4-A will be delayed until an agreement is reached with the Edgewater Association and staff will resubmit the proposal when ready. Kurth left the call before the end of the item. No formal vote was taken on moving the compressor or on planting; staff will provide an updated proposal after coordination with the association.
