Mannington refers flood-damage ordinance to Planning Board after first reading
Summary
On Oct. 3 the Mannington Township Committee passed Ordinance No. 24-06 on first reading to replace existing flood-damage provisions with a new Chapter 57, adopt flood hazard maps and designate a floodplain administrator, and referred the ordinance to the Planning Board for a report within 35 days under N.J.S.A. 40:55D.
The Mannington Township Committee on Oct. 3 passed Ordinance No. 24-06 on first reading and referred the proposed land-use amendment to the Mannington Township Planning Board for review.
The ordinance would repeal sections §70-39.1 and §70-39.2 and the referenced “flood prone areas” map, adopt a new Chapter 57 entitled "Flood Damage Prevention," adopt updated flood hazard maps, and designate a floodplain administrator. The referral to the Planning Board was made pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:55D-26 and related provisions; the Committee requested that the Planning Board prepare and transmit a report within 35 days identifying any provisions inconsistent with the Mannington Township Master Plan and confirming whether the ordinance is substantially consistent with relevant plan elements.
Committee member Dunham moved the referral; Mayor Asay seconded and the motion carried as recorded in the minutes.
Next steps: the Planning Board is asked to return its report within 35 days, including recommendations on any inconsistencies with the Master Plan or other matters it deems appropriate.
