The Wentworth Town Council unanimously adopted a resolution on June 3 to establish a Capital Reserve Fund dedicated to maintenance and repair of the Wentworth Consolidated School roof. Mayor Dennis Paschal Jr. moved, "We adopt a Resolution to Establish a Capital Reserve Fund for the Maintenance and Repair of the Wentworth Consolidated School Roof in the amount of $50,000 per year," and Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Conner seconded; all voted in favor.
The resolution directs the council to appropriate or transfer no less than $50,000 each year from the General Fund into the Capital Reserve Fund and states the fund will remain operational for a period not to exceed ten years, beginning July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2036. The resolution also requires that any transfers out of the Capital Reserve Fund back to the General Fund must be authorized by an affirmative vote equal to or greater than two-thirds of the actual membership of the council, excluding vacant seats.
Council adopted the measure without recorded amendment or public comment. The resolution text is incorporated into the meeting minutes and sets a formal mechanism for proactive financial planning to address the school roof maintenance needs.
