The Wentworth Town Council approved two contracts Tuesday to address repair and refinishing work at Wentworth Consolidated School.
Mayor Dennis Paschal Jr. presented two bids: Stonewall Construction’s Project 6 for the front entrance and installation of ADA double doors at $29,445.53, and a $12,500 quote from contractor Clint Yokley to sand and refinish the gym floor, paint lines, and apply two coats of sealant.
Councilmember Cheryl Moore asked about a 'P&O @ 12%' line on the Stonewall estimate. Councilmember Dennis Paschal III said he searched online and reported that 'P&O' stands for 'Profit and Overhead,' a contractor line item to cover time and expenses. The minutes note a prior estimate from Elmer Galloway of about $5,000 to sand the floor and $2,000 to paint lines; the current quotes replace those earlier figures.
Mayor Paschal moved to approve both items under the school repairs agenda entry; Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Conner seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The minutes incorporate the proposed improvement plans as part of the meeting documentation; no financing contingency or additional conditions were recorded.
