The Joint Committee of the Whole voted on April 14 to recommend that the Common Council approve a permanent change of location for the annual Seymour Fireman's Picnic after Fire Chief Vande Corput said the fairgrounds presented a scheduling conflict.
A motion by Alderperson Gerbers, seconded by Alderperson VanderHeiden, carried. The Chief said the event historically used the fairgrounds and that a liquor license would still be required at the alternative site; the Chief described the change in location as intended to be permanent.
Because the change affects event permitting, staff will coordinate the required liquor-license application and any site-specific public-safety planning prior to council action. The committee approved recommending the location change; final approval rests with the Common Council.
