District counsel and engineer report on Corkscrew Road ownership study; no decision taken

District counsel and the district engineer reviewed differing County and Village positions on ownership and maintenance of Corkscrew Road (west of U.S. 41) and said a town-hall study will include the west side; no board action was taken.
At the Nov. 19 meeting, District Counsel Tony Pires reported that his opinion on ownership of Corkscrew Road (west of U.S. 41) has not changed. Counsel and District Engineer Charlie Krebs summarized the County’s and the Village’s separate stances on ownership and maintenance responsibilities based on past documents and memoranda. PSGRC President Neil Collins and other stakeholders have focused concern on the intersection of U.S. 41 and the east side of Corkscrew Road; Mr. Wilhems confirmed the study will include the west side as well.
Mr. Pires said he will forward contact information for Apple Signs to Mrs. Adams. The board did not take formal action on ownership at the meeting; the Village of Estero has engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets and walkways to identify repairs and responsibilities.
The report was informational; staff and counsel will continue to coordinate with the Village and County and report findings to the board.
