Manasquan Board approves financial and personnel items, proclaims Red Ribbon Week

The Manasquan Board of Education met Sept. 16, 2025, at Manasquan High School and approved a slate of routine financial and personnel items, heard presentations on the district strategic plan and spring assessment results, and adopted a proclamation designating Oct. 23–31, 2025 as School Violence Awareness Week/Red Ribbon Week.
Board members voted to accept the Aug. 19 minutes and to approve the Superintendent’s Report and a series of consent items covering professional days, field trips, student placements and financial reports. The Business Administrator certified that no budget line was overexpended and that sufficient funds remain to meet the district’s fiscal obligations. The Board recorded Bills (Current Expense) for September 2025 in the amount of $3,405,205.36 and noted a requested eight-week tax draw of $3,021,549 for district operations.
Superintendent James Goodall (title as listed in the minutes: Superintendent of Schools) presented the schedule of informational items and recommended the Red Ribbon Week proclamation, which the Board placed on the consent agenda. The Board also reviewed enrollment figures as of Sept. 12 (total enrollment 1,312 — High School 847; Elementary 465) and heard that required safety and fire drills for August were completed.
Presentations included an update on the district Strategic Plan 2025–2030 from Dr. Timothy Teehan, NJSBA field service representative, and assessment reports: Dynamic Learning Maps testing results reported by Director of Special Services Cindy Cimino and 2025 NJSLA results reported by Director of Curriculum & Instruction Jaclyn Puleio.
On operational items, the Board authorized administrative actions including: joining the Title III consortium led by Belmar Elementary School; approving one student’s AP Italian Language study in Palermo at a course rate of $1,018; accepting a sending-district student into the High School Center for Learning and Independence (MD program) at a total per-year cost of $99,400 plus related services; approving Pay Application #3 to Performance Mechanical Corp. for Manasquan Elementary School boiler repairs in the amount of $112,290; and accepting a $2,000 donation earmarked for MHS athletics ($1,000 each to football and boys soccer).
The Board entered executive session at 7:23 p.m. to discuss matters including public safety procedures (building police coverage), litigation or contract matters, and personnel. The public meeting reconvened at 7:43 p.m., and the Board approved Manasquan Personnel Item #40 and Manasquan/Sending District Personnel Item #41 before adjourning at 7:45 p.m.
