Manasquan Board approves construction pay applications, contracts and personnel actions

The Manasquan Board of Education on Oct. 28 approved a slate of financial and contracting items and finalized personnel actions after an executive-session discussion.

The board accepted Pay Application #12 from H&S Construction for the high school and elementary renovations in the amount of $200,133.81, Pay Application #12 from Honeywell for $138,286.35, and Pay Application #4 from Performance Mechanical Corp. for the elementary boiler replacement for $74,432.50. The board also approved a $1,125 contract with Hicks House of Entertainment for the 2025 homecoming dance and a $900 presentation agreement with Minding Your Mind for anti-stigma programming. The business administrator listed the bills (Current Expense) for October at $2,915,988.41 and confirmed September bills at $3,409,164.94.

Board Secretary and School Business Administrator Peter Crawley certified that, as of Sept. 30, 2025, no line item had been overexpended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16.10(c)3 and that sufficient funds were available to meet district obligations for the fiscal year.

Several policy and administrative items were placed on the agenda for first reading or adoption, including updates to bylaws and regulations covering board member election and administrative employment contracts. The board also approved the submission of an application for the Special Olympics Unified Champions Sports Grant for 2025–26 and authorized creation of central fund accounts for the Kindergarten Class (MES Class of 2034) and MHS Class of 2029.

The board entered executive session at 8:12 p.m. to discuss personnel matters. When the public meeting reconvened at 8:18 p.m., the board approved Manasquan Personnel Item #52 (elementary school personnel) by roll call vote 8–0–0 (one absent) and Manasquan/Sending District Personnel Item #53 (high school personnel) by roll call vote 11–0–0 (one absent).

The meeting adjourned at 8:19 p.m.
