Sanbornton trustees adopt updated cemetery Rules and Regulations, set cremains and urn burial depths

SANBORNTON, N.H. — The Sanbornton Cemetery Trustees adopted a revised set of Rules and Regulations at their March 18 meeting, approving specific changes that govern cremations, urn burials and several administrative items.
Brendan Morrison reviewed an updated document that combined the previous rules with proposed edits. Changes approved included a requirement that cremains receive at least 12 inches of topsoil cover, new language that all urns or other vessels must be buried to a depth allowing at least 12 inches of cover, removal of the word "pre-drilled" in the flag-hole policy, and a revision on a timing item to "April 1st." The trustees also approved wording changes about the number of bodies permitted per plot and clarified a fee policy that allows plot owners to open their own cremation plot if desired.
Secretary Karey Caldwell moved to accept the revised Rules and Regulations with the identified changes; Trustee Phil Turner seconded. The motion passed with all in favor.
During the meeting trustees noted they will contact local monument companies to verify availability of services; Brendan said he would call Charlie Beede at Laconia Monument. The trustees set their next meeting for May 20 at 3 p.m.
The revised rules were approved by unanimous vote; the trustees did not record additional amendments at the meeting.
