The Westport Island select board approved several routine contracts and authorized up to $5,000 for an architectural study of a proposed fire station during its meeting. The board also accepted a snow‑removal contract and approved a records‑digitization contract for $3,696.26.
Chair: "I'd like to move that we approve up to $5,000 to be used for the fire station architectural study," the meeting chair said when introducing the fire‑station measure; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The chair repeatedly used voice motions for payroll and accounts‑payable approvals earlier in the meeting, and the board approved the minutes of 06/15/2026 by voice vote.
The board reviewed a draft snow‑removal contract that clarified plowing of the Swamp Creek turnaround; members said the winning bidder was the same company selected through the town's RFP and agreed to accept the contract. The clerk noted the contract will require signature with witnesses and a notary before completion.
On town records, the board approved a contract with CoCloud to preserve and digitize municipal books and images; the projected cost of $3,696.26 was within the budgeted contingency of $5,000. "The CoCloud contract needs to be signed," the chair said as members approved the purchase order and signatures were arranged.
The board tabled consideration of an assessor's agent contract while members review outstanding details. Members also discussed beginning a bond‑bank application process; the application deadline was noted as Aug. 1, with further steps to be coordinated by Ashley and staff.
All formal motions recorded in the meeting were approved by voice votes; no roll‑call tallies were recorded in the transcript. The meeting adjourned after approving FY26–27 committee appointments.
