Heather Williamson, director of Berkshire County Kids’ Place and the Violence Prevention Center, updated the Human Services Advisory Council on the nonprofit’s services at the council’s remote meeting on Jan. 29, 2026.
Williamson said the organization provides forensic interviews for children, mental‑health treatment, one‑on‑one family advocacy and internet‑safety lessons. She described outreach and referral pathways for clients who need long‑term care.
Council members asked about the program’s countywide reach and timeliness. Williamson said the family‑advocacy waiting list has been reduced to “about a month and a half” and that staff work to connect families to longer‑term providers when needed.
The presentation highlighted the group’s multi‑disciplinary approach—combining interviewing, clinical services and family advocacy—to support children and families following suspected abuse. Council members did not take formal action; the nonprofit’s materials were submitted as Attachment A to the meeting minutes.
