Manasquan Board certifies budget status, approves tuition rates, contracts and personnel actions

The Manasquan Board of Education on Feb. 3 certified that no budget line has been overexpended and approved a slate of routine business, including tuition rates for 2026–27, several contracts and personnel items.
Dr. Pete Crawley, the district’s Business Administrator and Board Secretary, told the board he “certifies that no line item has been over expended” and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year, citing N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16.10(c)3. The board then voted to accept the Superintendent’s Report (Ayes 9, Nays 0, Abstain 0, Absent 3).
The board approved Manasquan General Items #15–#21, which include tuition-free placements for staff members’ children, 2026–27 tuition rates for preschool programs (parent-paid PK-3 & PK-4 annual rate $5,500; sibling rate $2,750; qualifying economically disadvantaged students $0), and various student-related actions. That motion passed by roll call (Ayes 8; Absent 1).
In a separate motion, the board approved Manasquan/Sending District Items #22–#35. Those approvals included acceptance of financial reports, purchase orders, confirmation of bills (the minutes list Current Expense bills for February 2026 of $2,945,386.76 and confirmation of January bills at $3,478,666.10), an extended service agreement with Daktronics for the high school gym scoreboard in the amount of $1,640, a vending agreement with ZenVend LLC, and a package of donations to the Manasquan Schools Development Fund totaling $17,600 from listed sponsors. That package passed unanimously by roll call (Ayes 9, Nays 0).
The board also approved a Corrective Action Plan addressing chronic absenteeism at Manasquan High School (document referenced on the agenda) and several personnel items. After a closed executive-session discussion that the board said covered collective bargaining (a Sidebar Agreement #06 to the collective negotiations agreement with the Manasquan Education Association) and personnel matters, the board approved Personnel Item #39 and Manasquan/Sending District Personnel Items #40–#41; those votes passed as recorded in the minutes.
The meeting record notes that there were no HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, or Bullying) reports for the month and that state-required fire and shelter-in-place drills were completed. The board adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
What’s next: The board did not set further procedural deadlines in public session; items discussed in executive session were recorded to result in action when the board reconvened to public session, and routine monitoring of budget and attendance initiatives will continue under the district’s administrative team.
