Manasquan Board approves tentative $40.38 million 2026–27 budget; public hearing set for May 5

The Manasquan Board of Education approved the district’s tentative 2026–27 budget on March 19, posting totals required for the public hearing set for May 5 at 6 p.m.

The resolution lists total expenditures of $40,376,019, with anticipated revenues of $18,877,322 and a tax levy to be raised of $21,498,697. The budget package includes a $1,334,678 adjustment to cover increased health‑benefit costs and a $73,074 use of banked cap. The board also included a $100,000 capital reserve deposit intended for future turf‑field replacement projects.

Dr. Pete Crawley, the district’s Business Administrator and Board Secretary, certified that “no line item has been over expended” under N.J.A.C. 6A:23A‑16.10(c)3 and provided the board with a brief budget update prior to the vote. The motion to approve the packet of Manasquan and sending‑district consent items that contained the tentative budget carried on a roll call vote of 8–0 (three board members were absent).

Under state rules, the tentative budget will be posted on the district website in the form required by the New Jersey Department of Education. The board will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget at the district office on May 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., after which the board may adopt the final budget in accordance with statutory timelines.

The budget document also summarizes projected expenditures by fund: General Fund $37,769,743; Special Revenue $293,926; Debt Service $2,312,350. The board approved the tentative schedule and materials as part of consent agenda item #37 and related packet items.
