White Lake advisory board elects officers and unanimously adopts bylaws at inaugural meeting

During bylaws discussion, Board Member Mary Kay Clark moved to convert Article I formatting from bullets to numbered sections; DG Melvin seconded, and the amendment passed unanimously. DG Melvin then moved to amend Article II, Section 2 to state that a majority of appointed members constitutes a quorum, that members are requested to attend face-to-face, and that a Zoom option will be provided with voting rights; Mary Kay Clark seconded and the board approved the amendment unanimously. Mary Kay Clark moved to accept the bylaws as amended and DG Melvin seconded; the board voted unanimously to adopt the bylaws.
The adopted bylaws define the board’s purpose as providing guidance and expertise to the Town of White Lake on water resources affecting White Lake and its surrounding watershed. They set monthly regular meetings, outline membership and staggered three-year terms, describe officer duties (chair, vice-chair, secretary), and prescribe amendment and meeting procedures. The bylaws also require that only appointed members may vote at board meetings but invite public input.
With no further business, Board Member Ray Cross moved to adjourn; Board Member Billy Whitfield seconded and the meeting adjourned by unanimous vote. The board scheduled its next meeting for Sept. 25, 2025, to prepare questions for a planned October presentation.
