Sanbornton Planning Board approves draft Land Conservation Area standards, sets May 7 public hearing

Brandon Deacon, representing the Sanbornton Conservation Commission, discussed proposed LCA standards and focused on deferral language. Chairman Andy Sanborn said he wanted the language and associated decision matrix to be placed on properties rather than on people; Deacon explained the draft would grant the board flexibility for property-specific cases.
Tom Lynch moved to approve the proposed LCA standards language; Andy Sanborn seconded. The motion passed 5-0-0. The board scheduled a public hearing on the subdivision regulation amendments for May 7, 2026.
The change advances proposed conservation-area guidance to a public hearing but does not by itself amend the town’s subdivision regulations; that step requires the hearing and any subsequent vote.
