Mantoloking Green Team schedules beach cleanups, maps Sustainable Jersey Bronze re-certification tasks

Jan O’Malley, a Green Team member, reviewed the Sustainable Jersey 2025 Bronze re-certification spreadsheet and summarized the team’s status on application items.
Barbara Hood Benz reminded members of the re-certification submission deadlines on May 16, July 31 and in late September and discussed assigning specific application topics to MEC and Green Team members. Benz also walked members briefly through navigating the application website.
The commission set COA Beach Cleanup dates for April 12, 2025 and Oct. 18, 2025. Members proposed pursuing available grants, holding local recycling events, expanding community outreach via social media and using the MEC newsletter; Mary Ellen Scalera agreed to research these options and report back.
No MEC/Green Team educational events were reported at this meeting. The commission also thanked Borough Administrator Brett Radi for support during a period with no appointed chair and noted that Mary Ellen Scalera will assume chair responsibilities going forward.
The next MEC/Green Team meeting is scheduled for March 25, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., in person at Borough Hall with a phone option.
