Commissioners approve two rezoning requests for White Hill Road and Greenwood Road

Amy McNeil of the planning department said the Planning Board unanimously recommended approving the rezoning of a 1.3‑acre parcel at 800 White Hill Road (Oldham Investments) from residential/agricultural to highway commercial because of frontage on a busy roadway and adjacent commercial uses. Commissioners considered a motion to find the request "not consistent" with the current land‑use plan (a common procedural finding when an amendment departs from the plan) and separately voted on the map amendment; the map amendment was approved.
McNeil then presented a second request: a 1.39‑acre rezoning at 1138 Greenwood Road to allow Lemon Springs Volunteer Fire Department to expand an existing station. The Planning Board again recommended approval and the commissioners approved the map amendment following the consistency finding procedures spelled out in the agenda packet.
