Manasquan Board elects M. Alexis Pollock president; Alfred Sorino named vice president

M. Alexis Pollock was elected president of the Manasquan Board of Education during the board’s reorganization meeting on Jan. 8, 2026, following a nomination from Joseph Loffredo and a roll-call vote that recorded nine ayes, zero nays and zero abstentions; three members were absent.
The meeting, called to order at 6:01 p.m. by Dr. Pete Crawley, the district’s school business administrator and board secretary, opened with the required public-meeting statement and the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Crawley administered the Oath of Office to newly seated members and the Manasquan Elementary School student board representative, Taylor Cassidy.
After the oath and roll call the board reviewed results from the Nov. 6, 2025 election. Vote totals reported in the minutes show Joseph Loffredo received 1,940 votes; Alfred Sorino III received 1,707 votes; Thomas Pellegrino received 1,878 votes; Marion Ahern was elected to a two-year unexpired term with 1,979 votes.
Following the election results, Jaime Malone nominated Alfred Sorino for vice president. The board approved Sorino by roll call (nine ayes, zero nays, zero abstentions; three absent). Dr. Crawley then turned meeting control over to Pollock, who presided over the remainder of the meeting.
The reorganization agenda included routine administrative actions required each year: designating delegates to the New Jersey School Boards Association (Joseph Loffredo as delegate and Alfred Sorino as alternate), approving the board meeting schedule, adopting Roberts Rules of Order as the parliamentary manual, and confirming numerous appointments and district officers including the Public Agency Compliance Officer, Right to Know Officer, Purchasing Agent and Treasurer of School Monies.
The board moved to approve routine items and minutes during the meeting by roll call votes and proceeded to the Committee of the Whole and regular business agenda. The meeting adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
