Pittsboro approves $12,400 CivicPlus website contract and local consultant agreement

The Pittsboro Town Council unanimously approved two website-related contracts aimed at modernizing the town's online services and improving accessibility.
Speaker 6 presented an estimate from CivicPlus for $12,400 for one year of website hosting, security and related services, including AudioEye accessibility tools that the town was told will be mandatory starting in 2027. The CivicPlus term was described as effective 04/20/2026 through 04/15/2027, with an expected 5% uplift in year two.
Scott, the local website consultant, told the council the migration to the upgraded CivicPlus platform should provide a much easier interface for searching meeting agendas and minutes and make it simpler for residents to file permit applications and book park facilities. "They're gonna have a lot easier interface to look up a meeting from 2 years ago and to be able to find that information for residents," Scott said.
Council members discussed online payment integration with PayGov for park rentals and other transactions and confirmed that residents would cover credit-card processing fees. Speaker 6 and Speaker 3 described options to link park pages directly to the appropriate PayGov payment screens to avoid customer confusion.
Councilmember Jerry moved to accept the CivicPlus proposal totaling $12,400 for the year; Bill seconded. The motion carried 5-0. The council then approved Scott's 12-month proposal, effective March 1, with a 5-0 vote; Speaker 6 said he would sign the contracts and coordinate e-signatures.
The contracts aim to move permit submission, department forms and park reservations online and to improve site searchability and public-facing presentation. The town will monitor the migration and may revisit options after the initial year.
