At its Sept. 9 meeting the Mantua Township Board of Education approved several routine operations and personnel items.
Operations and contracts: The board recommended and approved the 2024–25 distribution of Chapter 226 Nonpublic Nursing Funds, the annual nonpublic nursing report, district consultation form, and a Chapter 226 contract with the Gloucester County Special Services School District to provide nursing services for Ambassador Christian Academy, Gloucester County Christian School and Scholar Athletes Leadership Academy. The board also approved a joint transportation agreement with Clearview Regional School District for the 2024–25 school year. The grouped motion to approve the bill list and these items carried unanimously (items 1, 3 and 4 under Operations & Finance were approved together).
Personnel and program services: The board approved a slate of substitute and support hires effective Sept. 10, 2024, including an LPC aide at $15.13/hour and substitute teachers at $110/day and a substitute nurse at $250/day. The board approved Educational Stability determinations for four students placed in resource homes in Mantua Township for 2024–25, and approved contracting Brookfield Schools/CASTLE Program at Virtua to provide academic instruction at the MTEA teacher hourly rate of $43.00/hour for the 2024–25 school year.
Accountability: The district reported NJQSAC scores for September 2024: Instruction and Program 75%; Fiscal Management 100%; Governance 95%; Operations 97%; Personnel 95%.
Compensation and leave: The board approved a maternity leave for a staff member (staff #1328) from Dec. 2, 2024 to Feb. 13, 2025, to use accumulated sick leave and FMLA as allowed by board policy. The board also approved a salary adjustment for School Psychologist Emily Vendetta totaling $61,915 (base $60,294 plus $1,621 for five extra days under contract); that motion passed on recorded roll call with six yes, zero no and zero abstentions (Ms. Atkinson, Mrs. DiAntonio, Mrs. Gregg, Ms. Leach, Mrs. Vick, Mr. Wilkinson, Dr. Kroeger recorded on the roll call).
