Mantua Township board approves $4.89 million bill list and accepts ESEA, IDEA allocations

The operations and finance committee recommended the actions, which the board approved by motion.
The board authorized submission and acceptance of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA) consolidated application for 2024–25, noting that portions of three staff salaries—Michele Tatum (JMT MTSS interventionist), Michelle Dickson (Centre City MTSS interventionist assistant) and Michelle Cammarata (Centre City MTSS interventionist assistant)—will be paid using ESEA funds. ESEA allocations listed in the minutes were: Title I-A $136,870; Title II-A $15,050; Title IV line items $7,626 and $3,105; and an NP line of $6,126 as presented to the board.
Separately, the board approved submission and acceptance of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) consolidated application for 2024–25. The minutes state that a portion of Joanne Spicer’s (Sewell School special education teacher) salary will be charged to IDEA. Allocations recorded were IDEA Basic $324,137 (NP $74,514) and IDEA Preschool $31,563 (NP $4,384).
Board members also approved routine certifications required under New Jersey school finance practice: the Board Secretary’s certification and the Board of Education certification for the month of June 2024, and a recommendation that the county be asked to approve any line-item transfers that exceed the allowable 10% threshold.
No public comments were made during the meeting’s public-comment period. The board’s motions on these financial and grant items were moved and seconded on the record and carried per the minutes.
Looking ahead, the board’s minutes show additional operational approvals tied to procurement and cooperative purchasing on the same consent agenda.
