Mantua Township School District board approves budget items, summer programs, personnel actions and multiple policies
Summary

The Mantua Township Board of Education on Feb. 10 approved a slate of routine operations, personnel appointments and policy actions.
On a motion by Mrs. DiAntonio, seconded by Mr. Grant, the board approved Operations/Finance items 1–6 (bill list, December line-item transfers, board secretary and board certification for December 2024, reimbursement for workshops/professional days, and January emergency drills) with a recorded vote of Yes 6, No 1, Abstain 0.
Education committee items including the monthly Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) report, field trips (preschool visit to the Mantua Police Department and second-grade trip to Adventure Aquarium in Camden), McKinney-Vento student placement #3890177420 domiciled in Mantua effective Jan. 1, 2025, and an ESEA Title I-A salary reallocation were presented and the motion to approve items 1–6 in Education passed unanimously.
The board approved a list of staff appointments and personnel actions in Governance/Human Resources. Notable personnel items included the resignation of Paige Roccato (School Secretary, effective 6/30/2025); replacement teacher appointments such as Matthew Contarino (Replacement Kindergarten Teacher, Sewell School, salary $120/day for first 20 days then $304.81/day) and David Brant (Replacement MTSS Teacher, J. Mason Tomlin School, same initial rate), paraprofessional and substitute hires, and additional designations such as Erika Stahl and Angela Gill as district substitute nurses at $250/day. Governance/Human Resources items 1–10 were approved on a roll-call vote of 7–0.
The board also advanced policy work: first readings were presented for Policy 5516 (Use of Electronic Communication Devices), Policy 5533 (Student Smoking), and Policy 7441 (Electronic Surveillance in School Buildings and On School Grounds). The board approved second reading and adoption of Policy 5512 (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying), Policy 5701 (Academic Integrity), Policy 5710 (Student Grievance), Policy 8500 (Food Services), and Policy 9320 (Cooperation with Law Enforcement Agencies) and Regulation 9320.
The meeting concluded with community acknowledgements — Mrs. DiAntonio thanked staff and volunteers for a successful VIP dance and acknowledged Food Service Manager Dianne Keen for new menu introductions — and adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
