Christina also reviewed 2026 election logistics. She said the general election will include two council seats plus a recently vacated seat; she told members that the council has authority to appoint someone to fill the vacancy through Dec. 31, after which the appointee would need to file for election if they wish to continue. Christina noted state filing dates have moved earlier and reminded members of key dates including a July 28 filing reference and the state primary on Aug. 11.
She noted a planning commission meeting set for July 15, a July 27 work session and a council meeting on Aug. 10. No formal council action was taken on appointments at the workshop.
What's next: CLA will present the audit on Aug. 10; staff will continue to manage election filings and post the required notices.
